Pottery Department
from $1.00

PLEASE READ: As you know, if you use our clay (clay you bought here from us) for your project, you can also use our glazes, underglazes, and stains for that project at no charge.

If you use your own clay, you have to pay for the use of our glazes, underglazes, and stains. Simply do as usual, follow the directions on the "Glaze calculator" in the corner of where the pottery wheels are (photo added for reference) for your project, and calculate for each separately: Glaze, underglaze and stain.

The clay we carry for members Minnesota Clay Gray #3 in 25 lb block OR recycled pugged clay by the pound.

Glazes, Stoke and Coat, Stains, and underglazes are all treated as the same thing - you’re adding a glaze.

Feel free to leave a note if you have a request regarding where we should leave your clay if you are purchasing when a staff member isn’t present, or if you are buying before you arrive.

ALL COE96 GLASS INCLUDES: Kiln firing, kiln wash, kiln paper, mold treatments, other chemicals, high fire wire, glues, and tool use. It does not include accessories like nightlights, wooden blocks, and items in the drawer marked for sale otherwise.

ALL STAINED GLASS INCLUDES: Solder, flux, patinas, foils, other chemicals, and tool use. It does not include accessories like nightlights, wooden blocks, and items in the drawer marked for sale otherwise.

ALL MOSAIC GLASS INCLUDES: Glue, grout, sealant, and tool use. If you buy the project, like a wooden tray, or a coaster, it includes the glass used to create that project, so don’t pay extra for that glass.

This tool can help you calculate your glass payment. This will calculate the price per oz.

Instructions: Calculate how many ounces your glass piece weighs. See the photographs here for an example of how the scale might read. Simply enter the weight in ounces (oz) after weighing it on the scale, and enter it as the quantity here.

If you are having trouble converting, try this calculator: Pounds/Ounces Converter

That link will open on a new tab, so you can come back to this page, or scan the QR code again once you have your calculation.

Example:
My glass piece weighs 2lbs and 3oz. Since there are 16 ounces in a pound, and I have two pounds, I will convert the pounds into ounces 16 + 16 = 32 oz. Then I add the remaining 3 ounces. This makes my entire piece 35 ounces. I will enter 35 into the quantity field here to calculate my payment.

You can then pay here online with a card, or use it to fill out your form and pay for the glass by adding a check or cash to the bucket.

Polymer Clay
from $1.00

Please use your best judgement. If in doubt on what your project should cost, please just weigh the clay you use and pay 50 cents per oz.

Polymer (Sculpey, Fimo, Kato) Polymer clay is a type of modeling clay that is make from a plastic base, typically polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and various additives like pigments, fillers, and plasticizers. Unlike traditional clay, polymer clay is not fired in a kiln but instead cured in an oven at relatively low temperatures, usually between 275-300°F (135-150°C). This baking process hardens the clay, making it durable and suitable for various crafts and projects.

Unlike Play-Doh, (a soft, water-based, and pliable dough designed for play and recreation, often used by children.) Polymer clay is an art material for modeling. Please do not play with this like Playdoh and then put it back.

Key Characteristics:

  • Synthetic Nature:Polymer clay is a man-made material, not a naturally occurring clay.

  • Pliability:It's known for its softness and pliability, making it easy to shape and work with.

  • Curing Process:It's cured in an oven, not a kiln, at low temperatures.

  • Durability:Once baked, polymer clay becomes strong and durable, suitable for long-lasting crafts.

  • Versatility:It's available in a wide range of colors, textures, and effects, making it versatile for various projects.

Uses:

  • Jewelry:Making beads, pendants, earrings, and other jewelry.

  • Sculpting:Creating figurines, characters, and other three-dimensional art pieces.

  • Crafts:Making decorative items, buttons, embellishments, and other crafts.

  • Hobbies:Used in crafting, model making, and other hobbies.
