8/6 Pottery: Clay Beads for Jewelry-Making Class Series
Make your own wearable art! Join a three-session beginner pottery series and learn how to turn clay into beautiful beads and finished jewelry.
What you’ll learn
Session 1 - Thurs, August 6th - 6:30pm (about 2 hours): Clay preparation, jewelry design planning, and bead-making
Wedge and prepare clay so it’s ready for shaping
Design simple jewelry layouts (necklaces, earrings, pendants, bracelets)
Form beads of different shapes and sizes
Create clean holes for threading and attachments (eye pins, jump rings)
Add textures and surface details; plan glazing strategies for color and finish
Session 2 - Thurs, August 20th - 6:30pm (1 hour): Glaze prep and glazing
Final prep of bisque-fired beads
How to choose glazes that suit your design (color, opacity, finish)
Demonstration and hands-on glazing techniques tailored to small-scale pieces
Tips to avoid common glazing pitfalls (running, pooling, dull spots)
Session 3 - Thurs, Sept 3rd - 6:30pm (about 2 hours): Jewelry assembly
Learn basic jewelry-making techniques: stringing, attaching findings.
Assemble necklaces, earrings, or pendants using your glazed clay beads.
Finishing touches and durability tips so your pieces are ready to wear or gift.
Who this class is for?
Complete beginners or makers with basic craft experience who want to explore clay and jewelry
Anyone who want to learn a repeatable process for creating custom beads and turning them into finished accessories
A great class for parent/kid or BFF duos!
What’s included:
Clay, tools, and studio materials for bead making and texturing
Bisque kiln firing and glaze kiln firing of your beads
Glazes and glazing supplies
Jewelry findings (basic wires, cords, clasps, earring hooks); bring special findings if you have a particular look in mind
Ages: 13+
Materials: All supplies included - bring an apron if you like. If you have a particular look in mind, bring special findings or jewlery additions, otherwise we have everything you need.
