4/14 Glass Fusion - Lake Life Water Bowl Edition
We will be learning the art of glass fusion and kicking it up a notch with science!
We’re making an 8”-9” bowl (you can choose round or square) with watery elements and the science of copper oxide to create a unique and functional piece of art!
You will get a few design choices at the time of the class, but the plan for this class is to make a watery look on a bowl.
You might want to think about what styles you like in advance - do you like round vs square? Do you like waves or swirls or more geometric shapes?
Date: Tues, April 14th
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm (ish)
Number of class sessions: 1
Materials: All materials and supplies are provided.
Ages: This class is appropriate for adults and accompanied children 14 and over.
Students will learn:
Safety precautions and tips for success.
Different types of glass fusion, glass, and tools used in the art of glass fusion.
How to plan a design for a watery lake life bowl.
How to cut glass.
Apply decoration in various forms to create your design.
How to include using copper oxide to create intentional bubbles in the glass.
Basic kiln firing principles (no actual kiln work)
By signing up for this class, you agree to adhere to all safety precautions regarding the creation of fused glass. This project requires two kiln firings, so participants may pick up their completed project the following week.
Taught by Emily Kramer & Sandy Nimmo
Sauk Centre residents with a background in way too many forms of art, and a serious glass fusion addiction.
