12/5 Quilting: Use Your Scraps!
Turn your fabric scraps into something beautiful and useful! Join our Use Your Scraps! Quilting Class and make a custom placemat or mat that’s great for any surface.
What you’ll make: A finished one of a kind placemat or small mat ideal for tabletops, centerpieces, coffee tables, seasonal displays, gift-giving, or wall hanging.
Date: Saturday, December 5th
Time: 9am - 12pm
Sessions: 1
Ages: This class is appropriate for adults
Level: Beginner
What to bring:
Sewing machine in good working order.
Thread (neutral and/or coordinating colors)
Fabric scraps (assorted sizes and colors)
Basic sewing notions: pins or clips, rotary cutter or scissors, ruler, seam ripper
Learn:
Learn scrap-friendly layout and design techniques to make the most of varied sizes and prints
Basic quilting methods: piecing, pressing, batting selection, and quilting stitches
Finishing techniques for clean edges and optional hanging or backing methods
Personalized guidance by Ginny Thomas to help you complete a ready-to-use placemat or mat by the end of class
Who:
Beginners through intermediate sewists who want to use up scraps and create practical, beautiful pieces
Makers who enjoy hands-on instruction and finishing a project in one session
Notes
Bring a selection of scrap fabrics in coordinating or contrasting colors: mix solids, prints, and textures for best results.
If you don’t have batting, we’ll discuss options
Arrive 10–15 minutes early to set up your machine.
