7/15 & 16 Glass Fusion - Suncatcher / Windchime Class

This is a great beginner class or for someone who took our glass fusion classes previously and want to make a different project! We will be learning the art of glass fusion and making a windchime/suncatcher (your choice!) with your chosen glass design added.

Date: Tues, July 15th and Wed, July 16th
Time:
6:00 pm (approximately 2.5 hours the first session, and approx 2 hours the second session)
Number of class sessions:

Materials:
All materials and supplies are provided to create a piece similar to those pictured.
Ages:
This class is appropriate for adults and accompanied children 15 and over.

Students will learn:

  • Safety precautions and tips for success.

  • Different types of glass fusion, glass, and tools used.

  • How to plan a design for a tack-fused rectangle garden stake

  • How to cut glass to an accurate shape.

  • Apply decoration in various forms to create their design.

  • How to prep for kiln firing and complete the design, including adding hanging wires.

  • How to add beads and finish the project.

  • Basic kiln firing principles (no actual kiln work) for tack fusing such as slowly ramping up the heat, a top temp for fusing, the importance of annealing, and cooldown.

By signing up for this class, you agree to adhere to all safety precautions regarding the creation of fused glass. This project requires a kiln firing and some assembly, so participants may pick up their completed project on the final class day.
